SCHOLARSHIPS AND FINANCIAL AID

If you were wondering about financing your year in Israel, we are here to help you.

Here are a few different ways to help finance your year in Israel:

Midreshet Yeud is proud to be part of the YU-Stern S. Daniel Abraham Israel Program. Students enrolled in the Yeshiva University Israel Program are considered YU undergraduate students and are eligible for all applicable state and federal financial aid programs for students in need.

What is the Cost?

Midreshet Yeud's tuition is as stated above. Yeshiva University bills the students for the Israel Program and provides a variety of flexible payment plans.

To whom do we pay?

To Midreshet Yeud: NIS 10,000 Non-refundable Registration Deposit

To Yeshiva University: Yeud's remaining tuition of + NIS 84,000 (minus any financial aid) and an Israel program participation fee of $750, half of which is credited to the student’s account upon enrollment in New York after returning from Israel.

What Aid is Available for a Student who participates in the S. Daniel Abraham Israel Program?

Students who participate in the S. Daniel Abraham Israel Program may receive federal and state aid if they are eligible. They should apply in the same manner as do students on campus. Students should apply for financial aid for the S. Daniel Abraham Israel Program as soon as possible after January 1st of the year the student will attend the Israel Program. Students must complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). New York State residents will receive a TAP (Tuition Assistance Program) application as a result of filing the FAFSA. Yeshiva University institutional aid is not available for study in Israel. However, all Federal and State aid is available including Pell, SEOG, Work-study, Perkins loan and Stafford loans as well as New York State TAP. It is important to apply early so the money is available for your attendance on the Israel Program. Once the processed FAFSA is received by the Office of Student Aid, a Financial Aid Allocation Letter will be sent to you, which will outline the Financial Aid available.

In case of proven financial need we can customize a payment plan of up to six interest free installments - NOT INCLUDING THE NIS 10,000 Non-refundable Registration Deposit that need to be paid in full.

Various scholarships are available for students interested in studying in year-long programs in Israel. Students may apply for as many such scholarships as they wish. Listed below are some of the many scholarships available. Please read about these options to see which scholarships you are eligible for. It is recommended that you apply as soon as possible as many of those scholarships have a February deadline for applying:

NCSY – Different NCSY branches offer scholarships to their participants. Contact your local NCSY office.

Rabbi K – Rabbi Benzion Klatzko, National Director of College Outreach, offers airfare and tuition scholarships for students to go to Israel on various Jewish experience trips. He offers scholarships to those students that have already been on a Jewish experience trip and now want to return and study in select Yeshivot or Seminaries in or around Jerusalem. The amount of the tuition scholarship depends on the need. Email Rabbi K at: sagewannabe@aol.com

The Alisa Flatow Memorial Fund – To qualify, you need to be a high school graduate, not currently in Israel, intending to study Torah at a Yeshiva or Seminary in Israel, and show "academic promise in religious studies." For more information please look at http://alisafund.org/index.aspx

Bureau of Jewish Education – In the United States and Canada, many cities have a Bureau of Jewish Education that gives out scholarships. Each of these Bureaus offers scholarships to study at a Seminary or Yeshiva in Israel. Please contact them directly for information.

UJA-Federation/JCC – Some local Federations run a scholarship fund for students wishing to study in Israel.

Other ideas – your Local Rabbi or Shul – Most Rabbis, shuls, or kollels have money set aside from the community to help students get to Israel. You won‘t usually find this scholarship listed on their Web site or in their brochures. However, check with your Rabbi if he, or someone he knows can help you pay for your trip and (part of) your experience in Israel.

Yeud has a limited amount of means-based scholarships for students who have exhausted other sources of funding, ranges between NIS 4,000 to NIS 20,000.  For an application please email our admission office at sophie@yeud.org.il (applications must be received no later than March 1st 2014).
